The 1980s witnessed a kind of Golden Age of kid's-show-as-extended-commercial, with such varied successes as Strawberry Shortcake, Voltron, The Glow Worms' Christmas and, of course, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Many of these toy-inspired shows became comics; Marvel, for example, had books chronicling the adventures of G.I. Joe and the Transformers.

Naturally, in 1987, they had these two toybox teams meet, in a four-issue mini-series. The script, by Michael Higgins, follows the standard hero-crossover format: heroes meet, misunderstand, fight, and then join forces against the real enemy.
